Salem-Keizer School District and WALDO middle school are inadequate. How do you make the school bigger, add new space to the building to accommodate more students but you couldn't add more lockers for students? I'm confused. Instead students are walking around all day with 30LB backpacks because Salem-Keizer School District and WALDO middle school failed to make more lockers and meet demand. Students have no where to store their text books, library books, jackets/coats, school projects. The food they feed our students at Waldo and Washington Elementary is bitter, my kids don't even eat much of their lunch sometimes because they say its so bad. Salem-Keizer School District needs to do better. Our tax payer money should go towards getting these kids some decent food and get these students at Waldo some lockers so they don't hurt their backs at such a young age. I heard only the teachers and staff have lockers at Waldo.

Parents be warned,
Overall, our child's education and safety suffer here. Bullying, kidnapping, school shooters and illness, are a real threat that our children face daily. The schools are so crowded that your child and their needs will be overlooked. The schools are underfunded, the staff are on a power trip, the parents are overlooked, and the children are under supported. Many of Oregon's schools have discontinued assigning homework, understanding that family's need down time together after school and work. Not this district. Worst yet, if you live here, parents have no choice but to send their children off each day for a sub par education knowing the risk, in order to work. The school's schedules are only beneficial for the staff. Late start Wednesdays and an abundance of No School days, force parents to rearrange their work schedules. Further more, the school's don't partner with the Boy's and Girl's clubs to provide the student's with transportation before or after school.

You guys are garbage for many reasons but biggest of ALLLLL you have taught my niece she doesn't have to have consequences. At every turn, her parents have tried to reign her in. At every turn, yall call the cops. So now my niece is in The ER bcuz she tried to kill herself bcuz she isn't getting away with felonies. It's a travesty when your best school program is the Alternative Schools. I have lived all over Oregon for 50 yrs. You win shittiest school by a country mile.

The superintendent cares more about fulfilling her political ideologies than teaching useful skills. Classrooms are large and the poor teachers are to busy addressing behavioral issues when the should be teaching. There are some great teachers who love to reach but they are spread to thin.

Disgusting how the district and administration allows predators to work with students. Then, not doing anything about it and allowing the teacher to move to an elementary school. Children’s safety is not a priority here, and they protect staff more than students.

if you call to make a complaint, the reception will tell you they are transfering the call but in reality reception is just hanging up on you. is what they are trained to do, a family member of mine told me they do that to parents every day. also the superintendent has some sort of secret passage in case a building evacuation was issued and the workers of that building won't even be notified.

If I could give this district 0 stars I would. The new boundary changes have turned people's lives upside down. The district doesnt seem to realize that people have daycare to do before and after school care and being moved to a new school can cause issues with that. Or that siblings should stay together. They also sit idly and watch certain schools fail, those schools happen to be in low income neighborhoods. Funny how that works. If you want a good education for your kids you better have the money to live in a good area because those are the only schools meeting proficiency standards. The district needs a total overhaul. Vote these people out.

New boundaries and enrollment are much more important to the school district then child welfare and development!! I requested and appealed to have my daughter transferred to another middle school to avoid bullying. We were denied both times with very poor excuses and no attention given to what was happening!! This is a lawsuit waiting to happen!! Thought my tax dollars went to educating and developing our youth... guess not!!! The district is more concerned with how they look on the surface, and their delusional perception of what's best for our kids!! Pathetic with a capital P!!!
